How to Cut Cupid Off!

Oh, Valentine’s Day…the one and only holiday that may make many singles wonder why their relationship status continues to remain the same.   Some may wonder, “Is there a hole in my heart; or am I giving the world the cold shoulder?”

Hey cut it out ladies…literally! It’s totally ok to avoid the highs and lows of having a relationship and choose to angle your attention, or for that matter, your skirt where you want it. On the other hand, if you are currently in a relationship and done playing games; why not play with fashion.  For example, consider cutting it off…your hem line that is!  The midi and high-low skirts that dominated the runways last season are in total contrast to what is being forecasted by some designers this spring.   Hemlines are certainly rising with the temperature with slits not far behind.

On the other side of the fashion spectrum, there is a renewed interest in a more feminine silhouette. Women’s Wear Daily highlights this fashion trend by labeling their article, “Tea Time,” promoting tea-length skirts and dresses with a more ladylike appeal.Topshop is one of the many retailers who suggest we should all “embrace the midi”.  Wow, the teachers in my catholic middle school and high school would have loved this trend since they spent so much class time measuring our skirts making sure we weren’t in violation of school code on dress down days. Maybe I’d pass the test…but probably still get my lip-gloss taken away!

It’s not me, it’s you.

The tea length is truly such a romantic look; which makes it difficult for women not to fall in love with this trend.  On the other hand, what may look good on your friend simply may not look good on you.  Let’s face it girls, the awful truth is and what we hate to admit and say out loud is, “It’s not me, it’s totally you…you get it!”

Trends come and go but I truly believe our own personal style remains the same.  Don’t settle for anything less than what looks amazing on YOU. Glamour Magazine pointed this out recently when Anne Hathaway wore a tea-length dress on the red carpet at London’s premiere for her movie, One Day.  They stated how her dress just didn’t work on the actress’s body type.  Girls, explore all your options before you settle.  Above all, be honest with yourself, sometimes it’s just not you…and you deserve so much better!

Bottom line…It’s perfectly fine to be single and loving it this February 14th.  Honestly at this point in my life, the only thing I am asking to “be mine” is the adorable skirt on ASOS…and the only man who can sweet talk me is the salesman at the Nordstrom Shoe Department…
